Sure-Wood Forest Products-iAssist App

previous    Project   Sure-Wood Forest Products-iAssist Appnext

About this project

iAssist is the first "App" I ever created for the iPod back in 2006. This was a project I inititiated as part of a re-purposing agenda I decided to pursue. I had created a very strong instructional piece for a instructional brochure that I wanted to distribute in a variety of formats. This instructional app showed a user the step-by-step process of retrofitting a wood baluster staircase with iron balusters.

Skills involved

This project was mainly done in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The Quickstart guide was produced in InDesign and produced as a PDF with Acrobat for download distribution. I did all the product and how-to photography. I also designed the iAssist logo.

Extra information

As my first "app" and my first non-music use of an iPod, this was a exciting project. This project helped to set us apart from our competition since few people were doing iPod apps at that time.

The Glendalia is a boutique hotel in Glendale, Ohio. The client had originally requested an Art Deco design, though later changed to an Art Nouveau style. I developed a few Art Deco logos, but the one Art Nouveau logo was approved immediately. Skills involved

The concepts for this design were done in Adobe Illustrator. All of the Art Deco designs were done entirely in Illustrator. The final Art Nouveau design was started in Illustrator. To get the look of the flowers, I did watercolors and scanned them into the final design and composed the final look in Adobe Photoshop.
